14th March, 2009, the day was all fun, recreation and
enjoyment. A Bal-Mela (funfair for kids) titled "Khushiyon ke rang,
Bachchon ke sang" (colours of happiness along with kids) was organised
at Omkarananda Preparatory School.
A beautiful stage was set up, where children performed
dances one after the other. A semi-classical dance "Woh Kisna Hai"
enthralled and captivated all the viewers.
Another performance was an all favourite doll dance
"Barbie". Dressed up in a special Barbie costume the kids produced an
enchanting ambience through their imagination for which they received
everyone's appreciation.
Next was the fitness song "Boogie Woogie". The children
playing cymbals, spindle, wash board, xylophone, tambourine and jingle
bells amazed everyone. The audience stood spellbound by their
presentation of physical exercise in dance form.
Moreover, two very fine anchors stole the show by
displaying their announcement skills: a clear voice, correct
pronunciation and funny dialogues.
On the left side of the ground a theatre was arranged
where a puppet show was going on at the same time. A clown was capturing
the audience by announcing each show in a hilarious tone. Commentary and
special sound effects of the show were produced by the teachers standing
behind the curtain.
On the right side there was a poster display. It was
being explained by a group of students. Visitors were very much pleased
to see them demonstrating so nicely.
Indeed, the function was a grand success. It was only due
to the hard labour and devoted passion of both, the teachers and the
students, that they could captivate and amuse the audience for more than
two hours. The function concluded with a promise to continue the good
work in future.
