The Omkarananda Preparatory School, which is situated in the heart of  Rishikesh, was established in April 1999 with the Blessings of Gurudev Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati for children from Playgroup to Nursery and Kindergarten ages. Since its establishment, the school - through the ceaseless hard work and dedication of Usha Devi - has been growing in reputation and student attendance, and now has made a place for itself on the educational map of Uttaranchal. Innovative playway methods mingled with Montessori techniques are used in the Playgroup, Nursery and Kindergarten classes in order to inculcate the values of learning to be, learning to know, learning to do and learning to live together, practising cleanliness, curiosity, open-mindedness, concentration, throroughness, confidence, politeness, respect for authority, respect for time, respecting others' rights and feelings, responsibility and independence - all based on a deeper understanding and faith in God. In this way, learning becomes a positive and effective force in constructively channeling and focusing children's energies and broadening their horizons. We build a foundation for the educational process, helping the students to have the skills with which they can continue learning and growing in awareness for the rest of their lives."
